Austin Lacemaker’s Guild
Maker website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AustinLace/
Bio: The Austin Lacemakers Guild is a charter member of the International Old Lacers Inc. (I.O.L.I.). We practice the art of making lace by using a pattern mounted on a pillow and manipulating bobbins holding thread. We also make lace using other techniques such as tatting, crochet, knit, and needle lace. Formed in 1987, our membership is open to anyone who is interested in making, collecting or studying lace in its various forms. The purpose of this organization is to stimulate interest in lace, to improve the quality of the workmanship, to develop and perpetuate the appreciation of artistic beauty in the finished product and to instruct its members in the methods and techniques in all forms of lacemaking.
